Riverdale Clubs 2024-2025

  • National Junior Honors Academy
    1. Sponsors: Dr. Pennington and Mrs. Eckenhoff
    2. Description: Riverdale's Junior Honors Academy is a club designed for 8th grade students who achieve a minimum of 3.5 for all academic semesters in 6th and 7th grade and maintain all Es in conduct. Students are required to be enrolled in at least one of the following: enriched language arts or enriched math. JHA challenges students to pursue excellence in academic coursework and leadership in school and community. Students who are interested will apply their spring semester of their 7th grade year.

  • Student Council
    1. Sponsors: Mrs. Brown and Ms. Rickman
    2. Description: This club is designed for 6th through 8th grade students who excel in leadership organization. They meet 2-3 times a month and participate in events that take place outside of school hours and/or out of town.

  • Raider Theater
    1. Sponsors: Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Norment, and Dr. Stevens
    2. Description: Develop a spring musical production. This club is designed for grades 1st through 8th. Meetings/rehearsals will be held after school and on Saturday mornings. 
    3. Cost: $125
  • Riverdale Chess Club
    1. Sponsors: Mr. Brashier, Mr. Freeman, and Mr. Lawton
    2. Description: A club designed to learn and grow within the game of chess. This club is open to all students in grades 5th through 8th. They will meet on Tuesdays after school.

  • Builders Club
    1. Sponsors: Mrs. Buchholz, Mrs. Dlabaj, and Mrs. Moorhead
    2. Description: This club offers students a place to belong, make friends, build life skills, develop as a leader, and contribute to the community through service. Service projects conducted by the students will help the school and outside community. The student leaders choose activities and projects that are of interest to them, and they are able to put their talents to use through service. This club is for students in grades 6th through 8th. Meetings will be held monthly before school.

  • Best Buddies
    1. Sponsor: Tristan Schmit
    2. Description: Best Buddies fosters one-to-one friendships between middle school students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. All meetings will take place during school hours.
    3. Cost: $10
  • National Junior Honors Society
    1. Sponsors: Mrs. Marsh, Ms. Michalchuk, and Mrs. Wade
    2. Description: The National Junior Honors Society is a club for 7th and 8th grade students who have a GPA of 3.7 or higher. It is designed to create well-rounded students that focus on serving and leading, promoting stellar character, and instilling qualities of citizenship and scholarship. Meetings will be held before school.

  • Pink Frog Tea Club
    1. Sponsors: Mrs. Wingate (school counselor)
    2. Description: This club is designed for 6th through 8th graders who want to improve their communication skills by talking to one another over a cup of tea. The Pink Frog Tea Club meets once every month from 4pm-5pm. Meeting dates will be communicated prior to occuring.
